Update on Where I’m Teaching

I teach in person in NYC and now, with the founding of Hudson Alexander Technique Collective, at my sunny studio in Hudson, NY. One of the silver linings of the pandemic is that we learned that the Alexander Technique can be very effectively taught online. For this reason, I continue to offer online group classes and private lessons as it connects me with students across the country.

This Pandemic is (Literally) a Pain! Soothing Self-Care for Tough Times

Worry, stress, uncertainty, and feelings of isolation are common now. In our bodies, this can show up as exhaustion, a pain in the neck, an achy back, or a racing, unfocused mind. How can we learn to respond to stressful events in the outside world with less internal suffering?

The Alexander Technique can help you notice where you are holding excess tension and teach you concrete skills to let go of these habits of holding, and feel better in your whole self - mind and body. In this 3-week introductory class we will investigate our personal patterns of posture and movement, and explore tools for finding more comfort and flow while going about our day.

Dates/Format/Fee: In person at my Hudson studio: Tuesdays, 12-1pm ($75 for 3 week series) OR on Zoom: Thursdays from 5-6pm. ($60 for 3 week series)

Everyday Movement For All - Bringing Vitality, Ease and Balance to Your Day to Day Activities, part of Sapienta Summer Series

In this four session introductory Alexander Technique class for older adults we will tease apart the common habit of using more tension than necessary when we hold our fork, get up from our chair, bend down to tie our shoes or prepare dinner. We will explore simple tools to help you feel balanced on your feet and easier in your mind and body as you go about your day. Each class will begin with moving to music, and include a mindful movement sequence as well as a time for a guided constructive rest, an Alexander Technique practice of lying down that quiets the nervous system and illuminates choices for how to move, breathe and respond to life’s daily challenges.
